Who couldn’t use a few tips to help save time today? If you’re as busy as I am, sometimes its hard to keep all of those plates spinning. I’ve been using different time saving methods to help prepare myself for the next day, and the next week. But these are a few extras that you may not have thought of and tried yet!
Walk faster – I’m not saying you should run around like a mad person, but I’m sure you could add a bit of speed to your regular walk throughout the day. If you have a casual walk you should try out this time saver, you can easily increase your walking speed (without looking ridiculous) and save time.
Use your head to save your legs – If you’re tidying up and you need to go into a different room, save yourself time by collecting a number of things that need to be put in that room. The less trips you need to make the more time you will save.
Get freezing – I’m sure you know that you can freeze meat, vegetables, and some pre-made meals. But did you know you can also freeze pancakes, French toast, mashed potatoes, and roasted tomatoes? You can save a lot of time by freezing food so that its ready to go. For a more detailed list click here.
Master your minutes – Waiting for a phone call, an appointment, or a friend to arrive for lunch? Unless catching up on your facebook feed is on your to-do list, you should use this time to cross off a real task you need to do. Book your car in for that service, call your mum, or read that book you’ve been meaning to finish since last month. Planning ahead and using those spare minutes wisely will really move your goals forward. It can be a habit to just flip on to facebook so why now disconnect the internet on your phone as a reminder. To make my point, here are some things you can accomplish in 2-3 minutes:
- Review your to-do list.
- Stretch your body.
- Take out the garbage.
- Write a short thank you note or email.
- Clean the sink or toilet in the bathroom.
- Switch a load of laundry from the washer to the dryer.
- Clean out rubbish from your handbag and purse.
- Pull out dinner from the freezer.
- Make a healthy snack to munch on instead of grazing on high-calorie, low-nutrition snacks.
- Drink a glass of water.
- Do a quick clean up of a room.
- Give someone a compliment.
- Read 2 pages of the book you’re currently reading.
- Make a quick phone call.
- Take deep breathes and get your blood circulating (why is this important?)
Swap it – Swap an email for a phone call or swap a phone call for an email; If it will save you 15 minutes of writing a lengthy email, give them a call instead. Whereas if you know someone loves a chat and you don’t have time right now, shoot them through an email or text.
