May Reads – BRCS Book Club

As another month comes to a close its time to choose a book for May. This month I decided I wanted to read something really different. And nothing says ‘different’ like a gifted cyborg mechanic! No I didn’t make it up, Cinder by Marissa Meyer is about just that! Cinder (our leading lady) is a second-class citizen with a mysterious past, reviled by her stepmother and blamed for her stepsister’s illness. But when her life becomes intertwined with the handsome Prince Kai’s, she suddenly finds herself at the centre of an intergalactic struggle and a forbidden attraction. Caught between duty and freedom, loyalty and betrayal, she must uncover secrets about her past in order to protect her world’s future.

I’ve not read anything by Marissa Meyer before and it appears this is her first published work which is exciting. I love discovering new authors.

As for this book, I love how it dabbles in the classic fairy tale of Cinderella but at the same time is so different. It should be an interesting story.

I know they say you should never judge a book by its cover, but I was very interested in this book first and foremost because of the cover.

Looking forward to sharing notes on this one at the end of the month. It is the first of 3 books.

So you have almost a full week to borrow, buy, or find yourself a copy of this book!
